The
African Top Level Domains Association (AfTLD), the
association of African ccTLDs, announces its annual
African ccTLD event for 2009. The event will be
held in Arusha, Tanzania from 13 - 17 April 2009,
and will include the AfTLD Annual General Meeting
(AGM). The event is generously hosted by the Tanzania
Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) and the
Tanzania Network Information Centre (.tzNIC).
Aptly themed “Securing Africa’s Internet Infrastructure”,
the event includes a dedicated 3 day training workshop
on Attack/Disaster Contingency and Recovery Planning
(A/DCRP). AfTLD hereby invites interested parties
to attend, including:

ccTLD organizations from Africa and elsewhere
-
Telecommunications firms
-
Internet service providers (ISPs)
-
Governments
-
ICT agencies
-
Any other interested persons and firms
Through the workshops, AfTLD intends to contribute
to the process of developing and enhancing secure
and robust national Internet infrastructure and
services in Africa. Presenters will include leading
figures in the consolidation and enhanced security
of ICT infrastructure against rapidly increasing
Internet security threats.
The event will also include a workshop on AfTLD’s
African Dispute Resolution Process, which AfTLD
intends to provide for African ccTLDs from 2009,
and will also include an update in AfTLD’s research
and capacity building efforts.
