Upcoming Technical Training Webinar: Coalition for Digital Africa
9 September 2024

Upcoming Follow-Up Business and Marketing Webinar | Coalition for Digital Africa.

In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) play a pivotal role in shaping a nation’s online identity and economic growth. Recognizing the critical importance of ccTLDs, Africa Top Leven Domains (AfTLD) is spearheading a capacity-building initiative under the Coalition for Digital Africa aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of ccTLDs across the continent to support the growth of the digital economy in their countries.

As part of this initiative, a webinar is set to take place on 19th September 2024 at 13:00 UTC focusing on the Business and Marketing as well as Governance and Policy aspects of managing ccTLDs. This webinar will be based on peer-to-peer exchange as it is a follow-up to the two-day in-person training session that was held on 8th-9th June in Kigali, Rwanda just before the ICANN80 Policy forum.

Afnic will be the lead facilitators of the webinar as they are an associate member of Africa Top Level Domains and a partner to the Coalition for Digital Africa.

Why Focus on Business, Marketing, Governance, and Policy?

Managing a ccTLD goes beyond the technical aspects of domain registration and maintenance. It encompasses strategic business planning, effective marketing to drive adoption, governance frameworks, and sound policy development. By addressing these areas, ccTLD managers can ensure their domains not only serve their intended purposes but also contribute significantly to national digital economies.

This webinar will be attended by participants from 9 ccTLDs identified for this pilot phase which are: Angola, Benin, Burundi, Comoros, The Gambia, Madagascar, Niger, Togo and Zimbabwe. These participants are involved in day-to-day administrative or technical operations within their registries and also attended the two-day in-person training on Business and Marketing in Kigali, Rwanda.

AfTLD, in partnership with The Coalition for Digital Africa is committed to empowering ccTLDs in the African continent with the knowledge and tools they need to excel in their roles. This initiative aims to enhance a robust and sustainable digital ecosystem across Africa.
